Mike Holmgren is still very unhappy about the RG3 trade

Some believe that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, but a football executive on the outside looking in while another team executes a monster trade that he wanted in on? Well, that's a close second.

Just ask Cleveland Browns team president Mike Holmgren, who is still quite unhappy about the trade between the St. Louis Rams and Washington Redskins that effectively gave Robert Griffin III to the Redskins, two extra first-round picks to the Rams, and a clear case of agita to Mr. Holmgren.

On a Wednesday conference call with Browns season-ticket holders, Holmgren let fly with his feelings about what he saw as an inequitable situation, made all the worse by what he perceived as cronyism between Rams head coach Jeff Fisher and Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan that left him as the odd man out on a no-matter-what basis.

"Honestly, when it didn't happen I think there are reasons that I can't go into right now, but there is a very close relationship between the people getting the deal done and the people who offered ... Most of the stories that I have seen ? all of them I've seen ? were incorrect in what our offer was, when we entered the process and in how we went about it."

Well, what we know is that both the Redskins and Browns offered to trade up to the second overall pick, and that the Browns had the advantage there with the fourth overall pick as opposed to Washington's sixth, and the 22nd overall pick this year as a result of the Julio Jones trade with the Atlanta Falcons. So �if they wanted to, the Rams could have dealt with the Browns and had two first-round picks this year, as well as a first-rounder in 2013. And given the Browns' recent history, that 2013 pick is going to be pretty high on the board.

However, reports indicated that two things really pushed Fisher and Rams general manager Les Snead in the direction of the Redskins -- first, that the Browns were apparently haggling over the second-round pick Washington eventually threw into the mix, and when Holmgren finally did decide to ante up with an equivalent offer, the Redskins and Rams had already come to a verbal agreement.

Holmgren doesn't see it that way -- in his mind, the Browns were exactly as on point as they needed to be.

"I'm not sure any offer was going to be good enough. We were very aggressive and it didn't work. Rest assured, we were aggressively involved in that.''

In truth, Holmgren got bitten by a more aggressive suitor ... and that's the way the ball bounces. Perhaps he should study a few key points from the Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness:

"Capitalism, God's way of determining who is smart, and who is poor."

"Crying, acceptable at funerals and the�Grand Canyon."

"Rage. Poise. Property rights."

Yep. Ron Swanson would dominate this NFL thing. Mike Holmgren, personnel executive? Not so much. At least, not this time.
