Former Ohio State linebacker Storm Klein seeks reinstatement

Dismissed linebacker Storm Klein is asking Ohio State coach Urban Meyer for forgiveness.

Klein, who was dismissed from the team after he was charged with domestic violence this summer, pleaded to a lesser charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct Wednesday morning and then promptly asked Ohio State for reinstatement through his lawyer Larry James.

James told the Columbus Dispatch that he spoke with Meyer Tuesday about possible reinstatement and that Meyer seemed open to the idea.

"He said, 'Let me know when you have something. I'm not giving you a commitment, but I'll definitely look at it,'" James told the paper. "It doesn't look like it's a core-values violation for the coach or the university."

Klein, who was sentenced to 18 months of probation and had to pay court costs, was accused of "violently and purposefully" grabbing the mother of his child by the arms and throwing her against his apartment door. He was dismissed from the program on July 6.

Meyer has a no tolerance policy about violence toward women.

But almost as soon as Klein was dismissed, James told the Columbus Dispatch that he felt like his client would be vindicated and reinstated to the team.

James said the victim recanted her accusation.

Klein would need a reinstatement to stay at Ohio State because he cannot afford the tuition. James said Klein's class schedule starts Thursday and Friday and that he's hoping for a decision from Meyer by Friday.
