Everybody fights everybody at Dolphins practice

Minicamps this time of year are supposed to be non-contact, but that's a lot to ask of a young, unestablished player who is bursting with energy and desperate to make an impression on the coaches who will decide if he has a job this season or not.

That's why you get scenes like safety Reshad Jones knocking down quarterback David Garrard, despite the noticeable red jersey on the quarterback.

That set off the following at Dolphins practice on Wednesday. From Omar Kelly at the Sun Sentinel:

Jake Long was so angered by what he saw during the 11-on-11 portion of practice the Dolphins' Pro Bowl left tackle walked from the sidelines and yelled out Jones' name. He then fired off an expletive-filled tirade that would sound like "don't [bleeping] touch the quarterback [bleep hole]" if it were cleaned up.

Jones responded with an expletive of his own.

That wasn't the end of things, either. Defensive end Ryan Baker got into a physical altercation with Richie Incognito, who pretty much everyone agrees is the least likeable gentleman in football. Then it was Jake Long again, getting into it with rookie Olivier Vernon.

None of this means anything, of course. It doesn't mean the Dolphins are fractured. It doesn't even mean that Jake Long won't be Olivier Vernon's BFF 10 minutes later. All it means is that the same guys are running into each other day after day, and eventually, somebody's going to get mad at somebody.

If anything, it's a good sign, as it means that guys are interested and engaged in these offseason activities. And if a guy doesn't dislike Richie Incognito, there's probably something wrong with him.
