Leonova takes lead in worlds after short program (Yahoo! Sports)

Alena Leonova of Russia nailed all of her jumps in a pirate outfit and led the women's short program at the figure skating world championships on Thursday. After the highly original performance drew a standing ovation from the crowd, Leonova received a score of 64.61. Japanese teenager Kanako Murakami placed second with 62.67, and European champion Carolina Kostner of Italy was third on 61.
